Hardwood flooring specialists in Greater Oklahoma City

Mike and Ish Soto have led the Soto Flooring crew through thousands of hardwood installs across Greater Oklahoma City — from original wood-subfloor homes near the urban core to newer slab-on-grade construction in Edmond, Moore, and Mustang. We supply and install [solid hardwood](/real-solid-hardwood-flooring), [engineered hardwood](/engineered-hardwood), and custom parquet from every major mill: Lauzon, Mirage, Mercier, Bruce, Kahrs, Coswick, Shaw, Armstrong, and more.

Because we buy factory-direct, you get mill pricing on the same floors the big-box stores sell at retail markup — with a W-2 crew and the Orange Glove Standard on the install. One crew handles every step: removal, subfloor leveling, installation, staining, and finishing.

Solid vs. engineered — how to choose

Both are real wood. The difference is how the board is built — and around here, which one you pick depends heavily on your subfloor. Oklahoma's expansive clay soil expands and contracts with rainfall, which means slab foundations move more than homeowners expect. Solid hardwood nailed directly to a slab is not something we'll ever recommend — even when a customer asks for it. Straight answers before the work starts.

  • Solid hardwood — 3/4" plank of 100% wood, nailed down, refinishable 5–7 times over its lifetime. Best on plywood subfloors on main and upper levels.
  • Engineered hardwood — real-wood top layer on a stable plywood core. Doesn't expand or contract with humidity. Best over concrete, below grade, and with radiant heat.
  • Wide planks (5"–7") — modern look, work in both solid and engineered constructions.
  • Parquet patterns — chevron, herringbone, custom inlays — all available in solid or engineered.

Wood species and stain colors

Red and white oak account for about 70% of our installs — they're durable, take stain beautifully, and age gracefully in Oklahoma's swing between humid summers and dry winter cold snaps. Maple offers a cleaner, more uniform grain. Hickory is the hardest domestic wood and great for active households. Walnut and cherry bring richer, darker tones for more formal rooms.

Stain options range from natural blonde and whitewashed to grey, fumed, and dark espresso. We bring sample boards to your home so you see the actual stain on the actual wood in your actual light — not a print in a catalog.

Professional installation and refinishing

We install nail-down, glue-down, and floating hardwood depending on what your subfloor allows. Every job includes moisture testing, subfloor leveling, baseboard removal and reinstall, and full disposal of the old flooring. For existing hardwood that just needs new life, our [hardwood refinishing](/hardwood-refinishing) crew offers dustless sanding, custom staining, and water-based polyurethane finishes that cure in days. Need the stairs to match? Our [hardwood stairs](/hardwood-stairs) team stains from the same batch. Every project is backed by the Soto Bros Promise — done right the first time, or we make it right.

Hardwood Flooring - frequently asked questions

Most whole-home installs take 2 to 4 days. Refinishing existing hardwood adds another 3 to 5 days for sanding, staining, and finishing.

Engineered hardwood works beautifully in kitchens and below-grade rooms — the plywood core stays stable when humidity shifts and when the slab underneath flexes. We don't recommend solid hardwood in either location.

A quality solid hardwood floor can last 80–100 years and be refinished 5–7 times along the way. Engineered hardwood lasts 30–50 years and can typically be refinished 1–2 times.

We bring sample boards in your wood species and color so we can match within a shade or two. If you want a perfect blend, we can [refinish your existing hardwood](/hardwood-refinishing) at the same time so the whole floor reads as one — see our [reviews](/reviews) from homeowners who've had us do exactly that.
