Modern LVP is embossed with a low-slip micro-texture rated for stair use. It's more slip-resistant than polyurethaned hardwood and similar to LVT in a commercial setting.
We remove the carpet, padding, staples, and tack strip first, then evaluate the treads. Solid wood treads get a quick level and the LVP goes on top.
